Extra Care Housing

Extra Care Housing is where older people are given the care they need in their own homes in a purpose-designed complex. It is more than sheltered, or very sheltered housing, because the aim - when the collective number of care hours needed supports it - is to have a care team on site 24 hours a day. Until then, individuals' care needs are assessed and a programme of care drawn up. The care is given in the person's home by a domiciliary care team.

Royd Court in West Yorkshire has been designed as Pilgrim Homes’ first extra care housing scheme. Now in its fourth year, the level of occupancy and care hours are increasing.

Pilgrim Care is our own organisation for providing this domiciliary care and is an extra charge. Residents who need help paying for their extra care can apply to their Local Authority for funding; our managers can help and advise with this. More information is available from the Pilgrim Care manager, Georgina Lansdell, at 0300 303 1485.

You can take a virtual tour on the Royd Court website.

A few one- and two-bedroom apartments are still available for purchase or rental. Information is available from the manager, Vicki Miller, on 0300 303 1480, by email: roydcourt@pilgrimsfriend.org.uk, or by writing to the Manager, Royd Court, Huddersfield Road, Mirfield, West Yorkshire WF14 9DJ.
