Our Community Engagement Officer, Ruth Ranger, is supporting communities in Chippenham and across Wiltshire to reach older people.

Local to Chippenham, Ruth has been working to connect those who support older people in Wiltshire whether through churches, the local council, healthcare, or social networks since mid-2018.

Making contact with churches of all denominations, Ruth takes a snapshot of what church ministry to older people in the area is providing as well as supporting each church in whatever way she can. She is also in regular communication with church leaders and seniors’ workers to encourage them with PFS resources & projects.

“It’s important that church leaders don’t feel isolated in this type of ministry and I see my role as serving them by helping to build partnerships from which all older people in their community can benefit.” – Ruth Ranger

Using the Faith In Later Life church activity directory as a starting point, she has been attending meetings with County Council Area Board officials and volunteers, NHS & public health staff and area co-ordinators, Chippenham’s MP & Mayor, and many other local workers for charities & support agencies. Ruth shares this information between these services and church leaders to help to improve communication about, and access to, all kinds of support for older people.
