Breaking Ground at Middlefields House

Matt Kisler

It was wonderful to be able to hold a short “Breaking the Ground” ceremony to mark the beginning of the construction phase of the new Middlefields House care home in Chippenham recently.

On Tuesday, 25t February, despite some very wet weather, we were joined by the Mayor of Chippenham, Desna Allen, as well as ministers from churches around the area and representatives from our local volunteer groups and others involved in the project including main contractors Midas Construction and designers Northstar Projects.

Pilgrims' Friend Society Chief Executive, Stephen Hammersley, welcomed guests and shared how Middlefields House will be a Christian home supporting and encouraging fulfilled living for older people. The Mayor commented that she was pleased to see the project progressing and Jonathan Edwards, a trustee of Pilgrims' Friend Society and a Chippenham local, closed our time together at the site with prayer.

This short but important milestone event was followed by a prayer meeting held at the nearby Ladyfield Evangelical Church.

After a welcome hot drink, about forty people gathered to pray for the project and its mission in the Chippenham area. We gave thanks for the project having reached this stage and prayed for the Lord’s blessing on the construction as it progresses, and for the wider work of Pilgrims' Friend Society in Chippenham and nationwide.
