Cycling through time at Florence House

Residents at Florence House took part in a national cycling competition during September, with one resident winning gold for her efforts.

The competition organise

rs delivered a specialist exercise bike to the home which allowed residents to cycle through some special places from their lives via TV screens.

Agnes Cameron won gold for cycling a grand total of 40km. Agnes said: "It’s done my legs good! There is no pain anymore, I used to get pain in my legs but now the pain has gone, which I believe is done to using the bike."

Residents could pick which part of the world they wanted to be shown on the screens for them to "ride through". Together they explored scenes from their lives, from Norfolk all the way to Australia. The bike was specially modified to support cycling for those with weaker lower limbs.

Agnes also said: "I really enjoyed it, so much fun and lovely scenery! It has made walking a bit easier, my joints are less stiff."

Philip Smith, manager at Florence House, said how lovely it had been to watch the residents smile and gasp as they were able to take in the beauty of God's creation as they cycled.

All together the residents - with some help from staff at Florence House - cycled a grand total of 149km. Congratulations team!
