Leonora gift day raises thousands

On Saturday the 9th of November, more than 100 people enjoyed a morning of food, fellowship and fundraising at the annual Leonora Gift Day in Chippenham.

Almost £10,500 was raised through a silent auction, sales of crafts and the most wonderful spread of cakes, as well as Buy a Brick donation envelopes on each table. The auction lots included holidays, days out, restaurant vouchers and food hampers.

The event was opened by the Rev Peter Atwill who spoke from Proverbs on the theme of wisdom. Tea, coffee and cake was served throughout the morning and a presentation was given on the progress being made to build the new Chippenham care home, Middlefields House. The new website for the project was previewed and a new video was shown that explains what Christian care is and why it is so important.

Thanks are due to the members of the Chippenham Auxiliary Committee for organising the event, the many volunteers who made it such a success and to those who attended and gave so generously.
