Pamper party

The party was organised by Maybelle, the home’s Hummingbird, and is one of several spa days that have taken place at Shottermill House. The fact that these pampering afternoons continue to be organised is a testament to how much they are enjoyed by our 'family members' (those who live with us) and the positive impact they have on their wellbeing.

The afternoon created a calm and peaceful atmosphere where family members could take some time out and simply enjoy being cared for. There were soothing hand massages, beautifully painted nails, refreshing watermelon and calming music, all helping to create a relaxing spa experience.

The spa party offers family members the chance to experience positive, nurturing touch in a setting where they can relax and enjoy themselves. It is a small moment of care that can make a big difference, particularly for those who rely on others for their everyday personal care.

Deborah also spoke to family member Joy, about what she thought of the experience. Joy summed it up simply:

“Pamper days are quite good fun, it is nice to be pampered and then we come back to reality.”

The afternoon was a lovely reminder that care is not only about meeting practical needs - it is also about creating moments of joy, connection, dignity and wellbeing.
