Friendship, fun and fabulous memories

At Bethany House, Preston, friendship, family and togetherness are at the heart of everyday life, as those who live with us come together to enjoy activities, share laughter and make special memories

Throughout the different activities taking place weekly at Bethany House, 'family members' (those who live with us) have been given plenty of opportunities to spend time together, enjoy one another’s company and create special memories.

From getting creative with paper mache balloons and making penguin crafts, to baking chocolate cornflake cakes and taking part in tennis and beanbag throwing games, there is always something to bring people together at the home.

The friendships formed at Bethany House are a constant reminder of how precious the gift of companionship is. Whether through an organised activity or a quiet conversation over a cup of tea, these moments of connection can bring comfort, laughter and a sense of belonging. It is wonderful to see friendships grow and to witness the joy that comes from simply spending time together.

Let's pray for continued friendship at Bethany House:

Lord, thank You for the gift of friendship. Help us to always show kindness, love and compassion towards one another. Bless the friendships that have been made in the home and the memories created together. May the days of our family members be filled with laughter, joy and love. Amen.

Bethany House is a purpose-built 26-bed residential care home just outside Preston, Lancashire.

We offer residential care for older people and can provide respite care to those who need it and we are able to offer care at the end of life.

At Bethany House we have an active social life in which residents can take part or follow their own pursuits. Planned together with residents and our dedicated volunteers, a programme of in-house and external activities, led by the activity coordinator, takes place every month.

Our activities include singing, games, armchair exercises, baking, gardening, craft activities, pampering and lots more. Various activities take place in the lounge, and we can take the activity to a person’s room as needed.

Bible study groups meet regularly, and we have morning devotions in the lounge, led by staff members, as well as Sunday devotions led by our pastoral worker or local church leaders and volunteers. We also provide support for personal devotion and prayer. We organise trips out for those who are able, as well as visits from schools, churches and other local groups, which helps to keep those who live with us in touch with their local community.
