How to make your church dementia inclusive

An important change to our Zoom meeting on 21st May 2024.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ve had to make a change to the speaker of the next Zoom meeting. Dr Jennifer Bute, who is living with dementia and who has a ministry in training and speaking, has agreed to share her insights into what makes a church dementia inclusive.

Living with dementia for 15 years, Dr Jennifer Bute describes what makes a church truly dementia inclusive.

Once a senior GP in a large practice, and fellow of the Royal College of GPs, Dr Jennifer Bute was diagnosed with early onset dementia in 2009. In our book, ‘Dementia from the Inside, a Doctor’s Personal Journey of Hope’ (SPCK) she writes, ‘So now, I’m in the unique position of being able to share from medical and personal experience, as well as understanding something of the needs of caregivers.’ She is also able to give a perspective ‘from the inside’ on what churches can do to be welcoming and supportive of people living with dementia.
