For practising Christians
Rooted in the Christian faith, life at Dorothea Court supports our residents to live fulfilled lives in their later years. We provide excellent, personalised support which supports our residents to flourish in older age. We offer retirement living and assisted living for older Christians across five converted Victorian houses.
Throughout the week there are opportunities to gather together for activities including arts and crafts or exercises, and we have regular visits from local church leaders who lead devotions and services. We have occasional extra activities such as films and afternoon teas for residents and guests.
We have a very active Friends of Dorothea Court group, as well as a Pilgrims' Friend Society support group who connect with the community and plan some activities throughout the year. We are very well connected with the local church networks.
We have 15 retirement and 11 assisted living flats at Dorothea Court. Accommodation is suitable for couples.
A guest flat is also available for respite breaks or visitors.

Evelyn moved to Dorothea Court as a resident in 2019. She took a part-time role at Dorothea Court as Administrator then in December took over as Manager, which fitted well with her many years of managing administration for schools and charities. She loves that her commute is just a walk across the beautiful gardens from her flat to the main house and office!
Evelyn grew up near London, became a Christian in her teens, married and moved to Bedford. She then moved around the country for her husband’s work. She lived in Scotland for several years prior to returning to Bedford. Evelyn loves being part of the ‘family’ at Dorothea Court where the staff team are great, the residents lovely, and the atmosphere is so homely and very special.
Ruth has worked for Dorothea as administrator for a number of years, having been part of the Dorothea Trust team before Pilgrim Homes took over.
Ruth is involved in various Christian activities as well as her local church, giving her access to Christian contacts throughout Bedfordshire and enabling her to maintain the Christian ethos of Dorothea.
