Craft a Christmas wreath
This Christmas wreath idea from Luff House, Walton-on-the Naze, makes a lovely festive symbol of togetherness
For those who live with us, a friendly face can brighten their day and they look forward to spending time with our volunteers.
Those who volunteer tell us that it is hugely rewarding and they value the opportunity to get to know older members of their community.
Our volunteers support us in many different ways, from helping with arts and crafts activities and cookery sessions to taking part in our devotions, which typically feature a short talk from the Bible, a prayer time and hymns. We understand that our volunteers come from all walks of life. If you’re a Christian, you’ll find many ways to use your gifts to support the spiritual life of our homes, whether it’s taking a leading role in our devotions times or simply offering to pray with one of our family members.
Whatever your background, if you are keen to offer your time and skills, we’d love to hear from you. We understand that the level of commitment each person is able to offer will differ and we’ll work with you to find the volunteering opportunity that’s just right.
Traditionally many of our homes have been supported by Friends Groups who have done brilliant work providing spiritual and practical support at our homes, while our Auxiliary Groups have raised funds through events and fairs. As the work of Pilgrims’ Friends Society develops, we’re welcoming volunteers through our new Volunteering Programme.
