Life at Bethany Christian Home

Bethany Christian Home is a "home away from home". Rooted in the Christian faith, life at Bethany supports our residents to live fulfilled lives in their later years. We provide excellent, personalised care which supports our residents to flourish in older age.

We have an active social life in which residents can take part, or follow their own pursuits. We appreciate that each resident has their own individual interests, hobbies and pastimes, and we endeavour to support our residents to maintain this important part of their lives. Our residents are encouraged to lead the lifestyle that they choose, doing as much or as little as they want residents can simply choose to put their feet up with a daily paper or a good book from the homes’ own collection.

In addition to the weekly activity programme, regular events such as “Musical Afternoons with Afternoon Tea” are held in the home, to which our residents’ family and friends are invited. A hairdresser visits once a week.

We also have volunteers who visit and provide one to one friendship support.

We are a community where Christian worship, prayer and support are a core part of daily life with regular times of worship and prayer with the help of church leaders and volunteers from local churches.

Around Bethany Christian Home

Bethany is a beautiful Victorian-era house which has been extended and extensively adapted to provide 24 rooms for residential care. Each room is en-suite and most have wonderful views over the city and Plymouth Sound.

There are two shower rooms and one bathroom; all with good disabled access. Bethany has two communal dining rooms and two lounges, as well as both indoor and outdoor gardens. The external garden is south facing with views over Plymouth Sound, and has handrails around much of the garden and seats, including a patio area with seats and parasol.

The home has a lift to all floors and is wheelchair accessible, and close to local shops and public transport links. There is also a guest room for those who travel long distances.

We enjoy showing visitors around the home, but request that if this is the purpose of your visit you call us first to arrange a suitable time. This allows us to allocate a member of staff to answer your questions. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at any time during the day, and there is the opportunity to purchase a meal in the home if they wish to do so, by prior arrangement.
