Join us at Evergreen, a conference supporting ministry with older people
Evergreen is a one-day event designed for Christians who care about or work with older people
This autumn the first-ever Evergreen will take place, a one-day conference dedicated to equipping, inspiring, and encouraging Christians who care about or work with older people. The conference will be held on Wednesday 23rd September 2026 at Westminster Chapel, London, and will be hosted by Christian charity Pilgrims’ Friend Society.
Designed for those serving older people in churches, through chaplaincy and in their local communities whether formally or informally, Evergreen will offer biblical teaching, practical wisdom, and spiritual encouragement, drawing on the expertise of an outstanding line-up of invited speakers.
The line-up includes: Reverend Mark Wormell, Lecturer in Ministry with Seniors at Mary Andrews College, Sydney, sharing insights on faith and dementia; Pippa Cramer MBE, known for her work with Daily Hope and Connections, speaking on the role of the church in supporting older people; and Alex Huggins, CEO of Faith Later Life, exploring evangelism to older people. Worship will be led by Anais and Khaim Spencer.
Miriam Baines, Supporter Engagement Manager with Pilgrims’ Friend Society, said, “I’m delighted that we’re hosting Evergreen this September. As the older population grows, many of us are answering the call to care for older people in our midst. My hope is that as we gather, we’ll learn from rich biblical teaching and practical guidance, and be refreshed through worship and spiritual encouragement.”
According to figures from the Office for National Statistics, over 11 million people in England and Wales are aged 65 and over, making up 18.6% of the total population. In the face of these growing numbers, Evergreen presents an opportunity to empower Christians to care effectively for older people in their communities.
