Planning permission for new Homesdale Care Home
Pilgrims’ Friend Society is delighted to have received planning permission for a state-of-the-art 45-bed care home in Wanstead, London
The new home will provide excellent Christian care for older people, including those living with dementia, and will create around 100 jobs for local people.
Built on the site of the previous Homesdale Care Home, it will continue the legacy of Christian care and community for older people and their families in Wanstead.
Stephen Hammersley, CEO of Pilgrims’ Friend Society, said, “I am very pleased that Redbridge County Council have unanimously approved the planning permission for a new care home in Wanstead. We are looking forward to the new home being a provider of wonderful Christian care, as well as a hub of support and connection for the local community.”

Hugh Lambourne, Director of Property Services at Pilgrims’ Friend Society, said, “The new Homesdale Care Home will be a bespoke facility built to support excellent care and community engagement. I look forward to ensuring that we are able to make the very best of the site in building a new home for so many in Wanstead.”
The new Homesdale Care Home will sit on the same site as the existing Homesdale Housing which provides rental accommodation for older people living independently.
Pilgrims’ Friend Society have been caring for older people since 1807. What started as pension distribution and visits to the poor elderly is now a network of 12 care homes and nine housing schemes in England and Scotland.
