Christmas Appeal 2021

Last Christmas, Hazel was living alone. This year she'll be celebrating with all her friends at Evington Home, Leicester.

Sadly 1.5 million older people in the UK are not getting the care and support they need. Unlike Hazel and her friends, they are not being supported in a warm and loving community. Could you give £50, £100 or £250 towards the work of Pilgrims’ Friend Society and help us provide safe and secure places where older people are cherished as ‘family members’?

“Christmas will be very different from last year. I’m looking forward to singing carols, playing games and enjoying lots of festive fun.” - Hazel

Pilgrims Friend Christmas 3

Why are we asking you to give towards a service that people pay for?

“People with more than £23,250 pay for their own care. For those without that financial resource, the Local Authority pays. However, in 2016 it was reported that Local Authorities tend to pay only 70% of the cost of care, leaving providers like us with a deficit of almost 30%, and things have not improved since.

“We’re committed to welcoming anyone into our homes who needs our care, regardless of their ability to pay. Your gift will go towards filling the gap left by underfunding, ensuring that we can give a warm and caring home to those precious people who need us.”

Stephen Hammersley, Chief Executive of Pilgrims’ Friend Society

I want all donations I've made to you in the past four years and all donations in future to be treated as Gift Aid donations until I notify you otherwise.
I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference.

We will claim 25p on every £1 you donate.
