“If I had lived alone the outcome could have been very different.” – Violet, 91
Will you help older people receive vital care in our homes?
When Violet moved to our Evington Home in Leicester in March last year, little did she know just how life-saving a move it would prove to be. One night she faced a medical emergency when a blood vessel burst in her lower leg. Guided by paramedics, a member of our night staff was quick to act, putting pressure on the top of her leg and fashioning a tourniquet out of a coat hanger. The ambulance then arrived and Violet was taken to hospital for treatment.
Sadly, unlike Violet, there are currently 1.4 million older people in the UK who do not have access to the care and support they need. In the face of inadequate government funding and with the UK’s ageing population growing rapidly, the work of our homes is more vital than ever.
A donation from you will mean older people can continue to choose to live with us irrespective of their ability to pay.
