Dorothea Court
Christian housing scheme in Bedford
Independent living
For practising Christians
Rooted in the Christian faith, life at Dorothea Court supports our residents to live fulfilled lives in their later years. We offer both independent living accommodation and assisted living for older Christians across five converted Victorian houses.
Throughout the week there are opportunities to gather together for activities including arts and crafts or exercises, and we have regular visits from local church leaders who lead devotions and services. We have occasional extra activities such as films and afternoon teas for residents and guests.
We have a very active Friends of Dorothea Court group, as well as a Pilgrims' Friend Society support group who connect with the community and plan some activities throughout the year. We are very well connected with the local church networks.
We have 15 retirement in our buildings on St George's Road, and 11 assisted living flats at Dorothea House. Accommodation is suitable for couples and a guest flat is also available for respite breaks or visitors.
We have a beautiful large garden between the houses which is available for residents to use.

How to find us
The No 10 bus stop is right outside the front door for easy access to and from the town centre. Bedford Park sits opposite Dorothea Court and the bus stop is outside the front door.
We enjoy showing visitors around Dorothea Court, but request that if this is the purpose of your visit you call us first to arrange a suitable time. This allows us to allocate a member of staff to answer your questions. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at any time during the day, and there is the opportunity to purchase a meal in the home if they wish to do so, by prior arrangement.
