Easter togetherness

Tyler Sewell-Nicholas

Across Pilgrims’ Friend Society homes and schemes, Easter this year was shaped not by a single celebration, but by a shared atmosphere of joy, creativity, and meaningful Christian fellowship

Rooted in the hope of the risen Christ, each of our homes marked the season in its own way while holding onto the same deeper truth at the heart of Easter: that life, light, and hope have the final word.

Many of our homes embraced hands-on activities such as Easter crafts, bonnet-making, and decorating. These moments encouraged creativity and conversation, often filled with laughter and a sense of friendly competition. Traditional games also brought people together, with Easter-themed challenges and activities that invited ‘family members’ (those who live with us) to take part, have fun, and enjoy one another’s company.

Food, as always, played an important role. Homemade cakes and refreshments from staff and volunteers created opportunities to gather, talk, and build relationships. These simple acts of hospitality reflected care, kindness, and the importance of community, turning everyday moments into something special and life-giving.

In some of our homes, family members were delighted by encounters with newly hatched chicks. These gentle experiences brought joy and sparked reflection, pointing naturally to the themes of new life and renewal that are central to the Easter story. For many, moments like these stirred memories and offered a quiet sense of wonder.

Alongside the activity and celebration, time was intentionally set aside for worship and reflection. Easter services brought family members and staff together to remember and rejoice in the resurrection of Jesus, providing space for prayer, thanksgiving, and shared faith. These times grounded everything else in the hope and assurance that Easter proclaims.

Taken together, Easter across Pilgrims’ Friend Society has been a meaningful expression of Christian community in action, where joy and faith sit side by side. Whether through laughter, creativity, food, or worship, each home reflected a commitment to the celebration and the joy of Easter.
