Carey Gardens joins the Pilgrims’ Friend Society family

A warm welcome to our new independent living housing scheme in Leicestershire

We are pleased to announce that Carey Gardens, a 13-flat development for over 60s located in the village of Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire, is now part of Pilgrims’ Friend Society.

Carey Gardens was built in 2001 by the Kirby Muxloe Free Church Housing Association, a local charity set up to provide subsidised housing for older people so that they could stay living in the village.

Maureen Sim, Director of Operations for Pilgrims’ Friend Society, said, “We are delighted to be welcoming the Christian community of Carey Gardens into the Pilgrims’ Friend Society family. There are close similarities between our two organisations in their founding principles and the way they operate, and we are pleased to be able to continue the legacy of the Kirby Muxloe Free Church Housing Association.”

The development comprises a mixture of leasehold and rented properties, each with two-bedrooms. The common room, known as Carey House, is the centre of community life and once Covid-19 restrictions allow, everyone is looking forward to restarting the full programme of activities and worship services held there.

Carey Gardens will be overseen by Mandy Smith, Scheme Manager at Pilgrim Gardens, our independent living housing scheme in nearby Evington.
